The Clay County Attorney’s Office partners with Consensus Council, Inc. to offer their Victim Empathy Seminar to Clay County youth. If this programming option is assigned to a youth, we provide a referral to the Consensus Council, Inc. and their Victim Empathy Specialist will reach out to enroll the youth in their seminar.
Victim Empathy Seminar (VES)
The four-hour, virtual Victim Empathy Seminar is geared to promote empathy and understanding by identifying and discussing the impact an offense has on victims, families, and communities. The seminar provides a supportive environment where youth are encouraged to understand and take accountability for the harm caused by their actions. At the conclusion, the participant writes a letter of apology to the victims of their offense.

As part of the seminar, participants are supported in writing a letter of apology to the victim and/or others impacted by the offense. The seminar is interactive and does not directly involve the victims of those in attendance.
