The state of MN requires all persons/entities that haul Mixed Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) for another person/entity for compensation is registered with the county they are hauling within per the MN Statute below:

MN Stat 115A.93, Sub 1:

      (a) A person may not collect mixed municipal solid waste for hire without a license from the jurisdiction where the mixed municipal solid waste is collected.

Hauler license tabs will cover the calendar year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31) starting in 2025.

Adhere to lower left portion of windshield.

The fee schedule is as follows:

• $16 per each truck
• Plus $50 flat fee per hauler (waived if you reported to the state the previous year)

Haulers are also required to report their totals to the state of MN annually by February 1 of the following year. All haulers that fully report their previous year’s numbers to the state will have the $50 fee waived. 

MN Stat 115A.93, Sub 1:

       (d) A collector of mixed municipal solid waste or recyclable materials shall separately report to the agency (MPCA) on an annual basis information including, but not limited to, the quantity of mixed municipal solid waste and the quantity of recyclable materials collected.

Failure to have hauler tabs displayed on all trucks by January 1, 2025 will result in a $100 fine per truck. Your trucks will also not be allowed to dump at the Clay County landfill or Resource Recovery Center until tabs are displayed.
